yellow Podcasts: Cannot playback programs with Home Sharing. (11/17/2013)

Sharing tabWe can set the Home Sharing for Podcasts in the “Sharing” tab of the iTunes 11.1 Preferences screen. However, Podcasts app running on iOS 7 does not support Home Sharing.

We were able to playback Podcasts programs with Home Sharing by using Music app and Video app until iOS 6. However, we cannot playback them in iOS 7. We wish to improve Podcasts app so that we will be able to playback programs with Home Sharing.

red Keyboard: User dictionary does not sync. (10/27/2013)

After becoming iOS 7.0.3, the contents of “Settings” - “General” -“Keyboard” - “User Dictionary” does not sync among iOS devices. Moreover, the contents does not sync with “System Preferences” - “Keyboard” - “ User Dictionary “ in the OS X Mavericks ether.

Environment: iPhone 5, iPad 3rd, Version 7.0.3, Japanese, using iCloud

red Safari: Not enough explanation for Private Browsing. (10/05/2013)

From iOS 7, the Private Browsing became to be convenient. It can be turned on/off simply by tapping on “Private” appearing after tapping on the tab management button (Fig.1 and Fig.3). However, these specifications cause the confusion as following 2 reasons.

We propose to add the following specifications:

after tapping on the tab management button start Private Browsing Private Browsing (Fig.1, 2, 3)

Environment: iPhone 5, iOS Version 7.0.2, Japanese, using iCloud

red Contacts: Group settings are not saved. (09/29/2013)

After setting the view in order to display only a part of the group by using Contacts app, restart iPad. Then, the settings went back to the previous status where the all the group are to be displayed.

By using iPhone, it keeps the status of the settings. As iPad, it should be so, as well.

yellow Contacts: Phonetic names turn into Chinese. (09/24/2013)

Even we are using in the Japanese language environment, the Chinese Pinyin is automatically entered in the “Phonetic Last Name” and “Phonetic First Name” columns occasionally when registering contacs.

As we investigated, it works as the following specifications.

It seams to be a simple specifications and reasonable. However, even a Japanese person has enough possibility to enter half-width spaces in the “Last Name” and “FIrst Name” column. Even a Chinese person has enough possibility not to enter half-width spaces in the “Last Name” and “FIrst Name” columns.

In addition, “Phonetic Last Name” and “Phonetic FIrst Name” which have been already entered are discard and reentered in another language when simply entering and deleting half-width spaces in “Last Name” and “ Fistname” under the current specifications. This is troublesome for us.

We think the following specifications are suitable.

red Podcasts: One or more programs are coexisting. (09/21/2013)

Podcasts cannot handle the difference between the program names (album names) correctly when using the files like MP3 converting into Podcasts by using iTunes.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Set as follows after opening “Info” window of the first music file in iTunes.
That is, create an episode of “Podcast name 1” for the “program 1”.
    • Song Name: Podcast name 1
    • Album Name: program 1
    • Media Kind: Podcasts
  2. Set as follows after opening “Info” window of the first music file in iTunes.
That is, create an episode of “Podcast name 2” for the “program 2”.
    • Song Name: Podcast name 2
    • Album Name: program 2
    • Media Kind: Podcasts
  3. Sync iPhone and iTunes.
  4. Open Podcast app by using iPhone and tap on “My Podcasts”.

Podcast name 1とPodcast name 2Two programs are created during above operations. That is, two programs should be displayed in “My Podcasts” of Podcasts app.

However, only the program name “program 2” is displayed in reality and both episodes “Podcast 1” and “Podcast 2” are displayed when opening it. (refer to the figure)

In other words, it cannot handle the difference between the program names. (album names) We wish to correct this bug.

On the other hand, the Music app running on iOS 6 could handle the difference between the program names (album names) correctly, even the Podcast was made along with the above operation.

green Settings : Making change of registered Apple ID’s contents by using iOS devices. (03/14/2013)

iTunes Store/App Store In the Apple Support Communities, there is a FAQ titled “Cannot download and update songs and applications after changing Apple ID due to the change of email address.” (Japanese) It is because there are many users who create new Apple IDs in order to change Apple IDs.

The reason why many users of this kind exist is that prepared Apple’s UI has a defect. Users who created Apple IDs by using iOS devices do not aware if there is a way to change Apple IDs in the Apple’s website.

Then we propose to add “Change registered Apple ID’s contents” button in the “iTunes & App Stores” screen (fig. on the right side) or “iCloud” screen in the Settings menu of iOS devices.

Clicking this button, the screen that has the same function as “My Apple ID” screen in the Apple’s website will be shown.

Environment: iPhone 5, Version 6.1.2, Japanese, using iCloud

red Contacts: Search function does not work properly. (12/03/2012)

Contacts of iOS
AddressBook Yamada AddressBook Search

We have performed the following procedure.

  1. Add name “山田 太郎”and address “東京都 千代田区” as New Contacts.
  2. Search by name “千山 都太” in the Contacts.

The name “千山 都太” is not included also in the name “山田 太郎”. In this reason, it is supposed that there is no search result at all.

However, the search result includes “山田 太郎” when we search by using “千山 都太” as an entry. This is obviously a mistake.

Environment: iPhone 5, Version 6.0.1, Japanese, using iCloud

Contacts of iCloud

AddressBook Yamada The result is the same as Contacts of iOS.

The cause is clear when looking at the iCloud screen. It shows the result as breaking up the search word into character by character using its logic such as "千" and "山" and " and "都" and "太". However, this seems like searching the word “Steven” by using the logic such as "s" and "t" and "e" and "v" and "e" and "n". This is completely broken as an algorithm to search words in the Japanese language.

Environment: Japanese

red Music: “Podcasts” button moves to “More”. (11/07/2012)

The 1st problem

We performed the following steps.

  1. By using iPhone, set unplayed Podcasts so as to sync with iPhone, and then perform syncing.
  2. Perform in the order of “Music” application, “More” - “Edit” and place “Podcasts” button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Playback all unplayed Podcasts and sync with iTunes.

User wishes “Podcasts” button to be remained at the same position as the user places the “Podcasts” button at the bottom of the screen during the step 2.

However, “Podcasts” button is deleted from the bottom of the “Music” application screen and moves to “More” automatically if there is no Podcasts file in iPhone. The Podcasts button is not placed at “More” at all and disappears.

This is the behavior which user do not expect.

The 2nd problem

After that, we download unplayed Podcasts and sync with iPhone.

As the Podcasts file is existing in iPhone, we wish “Podcasts” button to be displayed at the original position (bottom of the Music application screen).

However, the button is remaining at “More” in the “Music” application.

This is the behavior which user do not expect.

Supplementary information

When force quitting “Music” application or restarting iPhone, “Podcasts” button is placed at the bottom of the screen after launching “Music” application next time.

It is supposed that the function to change positions of the “Podcasts” buttons is not working properly in this reason.

Environment: iPhone 5, Version 6.01, Japanese, using iCloud

Amendment (09/19/2013)

In OS 7, Podcasts playback feature has disappeared from the “Music” app.

red Music: We cannot turn off Genius. (10/21/2012)

We have performed the followings.

  1. Before turning on Genius when using iTunes, there is no “Genius Playlist” existing in the “Playlists” of the iPhone’s Music application, and “Genius” button is not displayed when playing back.
  2. After turning on Genius when using iTunes, “Genius Playlist” is added in the “Playlists” of the iPhone’s Music application, and “Genius” button is displayed when playing back. (This is a normal behavior, so far.)
  3. We synced the iPhone after turning off “Genius”.

Originally, “Genius Playlist” should be disappeared from the iPhone and Genius button should not be displayed when playback songs.

However, iPhone’s “Genius Playlist” has not disappeared. “Genius” button is also not displayed. That is, Genius is not turned off. This is a bug.

Moreover, even tapping on the Genius button when playing back songs by using iTunes, we cannot create a new Genius Playlist. Even selecting the "New" button in “Genius Playlist”, we cannot create a new list. It seems that the required database for the Genius function is deleted. However, the display will not be back to the previous.

Environment: iPhone 5, Version 6.0, Japanese, using iCloud

red iTunes Store: There is no exit on the “History” screen. (09/30/2012)

Perform as follows by using iTunes application.

  1. Click on the List button at the upper right hand side. (Fig.1)
    Then, “HIstory” screen is displayed.
  2. There is no “Previous” button but “Clear” button instead. In this reason, we cannot go back to the previous screen. (Fig.2)

The design of this user interface (UI) should be wrong.

Environment: iPhone 5, Version 6.0, Japanese, using iCloud

nformation source: Apple Support Community - Japan (We cannot go back because there is no “Previous” button is displayed when showing history.(Japanese))

Amendment (10/12/2012)

This has been corrected within 2 weeks. The “Done” button has been added at the upper right hand of the “History” screen.
